2025 Highlight Day 11: Local Government M365 Foundations Programme

We’re celebrating our Local Government M365 Foundations Programme, bringing councils together to build on their M365 investment, share expertise and develop consistent, practical approaches to using the platform.

This year, a major focus of our M365 Foundations Programme has been supporting Scottish Local Authorities to manage information within Microsoft's ecosystem safely and confidently. We have been developing a set of practical information governance resources for Scottish Councils, available on our Digital Office Resource Centre.

This includes guidance and supporting materials on:

• Labelling and classification
• Retention and deletion
• External sharing
• Remote working
• Communications and change support

We have also developed seven product assessments to support council DPIA processes and help explain Microsoft 365 capabilities in clear, accessible language. A huge thank you to the Core Subject Matter Expert Group whose input and experience have shaped every part of this work!
