Cyber Security

Cyber security is an essential focus of local government operations. Our Cyber Security Portfolio supports the Digital Partnership with products and services to ensure public services are secure, resilient and compliant.

We’re working in partnership to establish standardisation across the whole of Scotland’s public sector to address the ever-increasing risks of cyber-attacks and deliver secure & resilient services by:

  • Utilising the experience of local authorities cyber security employees to provide a comprehensive pool of knowledge and understanding.
  • Enhancing local authorities’ ability to respond to active incidents.
  • Improving procurement practices and developing a third-party risk assessment tool to assist local authorities in selecting appropriate suppliers based on security criteria.
  • Providing a central focal point for cyber security discussions between local authorities and the wider public.
  • Increasing the number of cyber security trained employees to make cyber security as understood as physical security.

CyberScotland Partnership

The  Digital Office is a proud member of the CyberScotland Partnership (CSP). This Partnership is a collaboration of key stakeholders, brought together by the Scottish Government’s National Cyber Resilience Unit, to raise cyber security awareness and build cyber resilience across Scotland and drive the delivery of activities that will achieve the outcomes of The Strategic Framework for a Cyber Resilient Scotland.

The CSP supports the vision that Scotland thrives by being a digitally secure and resilient nation.

It aims to raise cyber resilience awareness amongst the general public, public, private and third sectors.

It also shares information and tips on how people, businesses and organisations can stay secure online and understand what to do and how to report any incidents.
